Meet Tamara

Owner, Special Educator, IEP Specialist,

Educational Advocate & Consultant

Tamara believes that every student has an innate desire to learn and deserves a safe, inclusive environment where they can thrive as both individuals and learners. Through collaboration among self-advocates, families, and educators, she works to create equitable, personalized learning experiences that support all students.

Tamara holds a Master of Education in Special Education with an emphasis in Behavioral Science from Colorado Christian University, and a Bachelor’s degree in International Business Management from Brigham Young University–Hawaii.

Before founding Collaborative Educational Advocates and Consulting, Tamara served as a special educator in public schools, working with elementary, middle, and high school students across a variety of special education settings. She has extensive experience supporting students with developmental disabilities, specific learning disabilities, ADHD, language impairments, behavioral challenges, serious emotional disabilities, and autism spectrum disorder. She also has a strong background in working with students considered “at-risk” and implementing trauma-informed practices.

Tamara specializes in developing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs), Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs), and 504 Plans. In addition, she has served as a SibShop facilitator for the Sibling Support Project, recognizing that one of the longest-lasting relationships individuals have is with their siblings. She looks forward to participating as a facilitator at the Parents Encouraging Parents 2026 Conference, hosted by the Colorado Department of Education.

As both an educator and a parent, Tamara brings a unique and deeply personal perspective to her work. She has three children in high school who have each received school-based services, giving her firsthand experience navigating the special education system. They also keep her busy with sports and hobbies, which she and her husband enthusiastically support.

Outside of her professional work, Tamara enjoys spending time with family and friends. She loves running, exploring the outdoors, and playing softball.
